Where there is a will, there is a way

It all started with

Brotherly love

This is a story about how a pair of brothers struck by a terrible disease, with a lack of assistive devices but not of will, decided to turn thoughts into action.

When Mangor became paralyzed in his arm in 2015, his brother Terje, who was also a professor of robotics, started making an assistive device for his brother.

2015 - The beginning

Terje started working with medical specialist doctor Tore Meisingset.

They received funding from medical associations, St. Olav's hospital and Trøndelag orthopedic workshop

2019 - More professionals

They saw that the assistive could help more people. But they needed someone willing to take on the challenge. At the entrepreneurship school at NTNU, the brothers found budding entrepreneurs who had both the will and the motivation to take on this challenge with them.

Vilje Bionics AS was formally established.

2021 - Trondheim

After the summer we established ourselves in Forskningsparken in Oslo, we now had four permanent employees. We received support from Innovation Norway, the Research Council and the DAM Foundation.

2021 - Oslo

Jan Olav Lohne
Quality manager and Orthopedic engineer
in Ortopedikteknikk AS

"This aid will be able to provide a significantly increased function and quality of life for some users"

Prototype 3 was tested by six new potential users. We received a lot of good feedback.

2022 - User tests

We got our first angel investors and at the same time grew to 7 employees.

A new company board was established with relevant knowledge and experience.

2022 - Growth and investor round
